
Rajasthan is set to participate in a nationwide civil defence mock drill on May 7, 2025, involving 28 cities across the state. This exercise, initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to assess and enhance preparedness against potential hostile threats, especially in light of recent escalations along the India-Pakistan border.
🏙️ Cities Participating in the Drill
The following cities in Rajasthan will be part of the mock drill:
• Highly Sensitive: Kota, Rawatbhata (Chittorgarh)
• Moderately Sensitive: Jaipur, Ajmer, Alwar, Barmer, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Bundi, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Sikar, Suratgarh (Sri Ganganagar), Abu Road (Sirohi), Nasirabad (Ajmer), Bhiwadi, Phulera (Jaipur), Nagaur, Jalore, Beawar, Lalgarh (Sri Ganganagar), Sawai Madhopur, Pali, Bhilwara
These classifications are based on strategic importance and vulnerability assessments. 
🔔 Key Activities During the Drill
Residents can expect the following during the drill:
• Air Raid Sirens: Sirens will sound in designated areas to simulate air raid warnings. For instance, Jodhpur has tested 18 sirens in preparation. 
• Blackout Protocols: Following the sirens, a complete blackout will be observed. This includes turning off household lights, streetlights, mobile torches, and vehicle headlights. 
• Civil Defence Training: Civilians and students will receive guidance on emergency response measures, including first aid and evacuation procedures. 
• Security Measures: In areas like Sri Ganganagar, drone operations have been prohibited to maintain security during the drill. 
🛡️ Purpose of the Drill
This mock drill is the first of its scale since 1971 and is designed to: 
• Test the effectiveness of air raid warning systems.
• Evaluate blackout procedures and public compliance.
• Assess the readiness of civil defence services, including wardens and emergency responders.
• Enhance coordination between civil authorities and the Indian Air Force.   
The exercise aims to ensure that both authorities and citizens are well-prepared to respond effectively in the event of a real emergency.
